Gaining Turkish Citizenship by Investment

Pursuant to presidential ecree dated September 18th, 2018 and numbered 106, "Regulation Amending the Regulation on Implementation of Turkish Citizenship Law" has entered into force and accordingly, foreigners having any one of the conditions below will be eligible to obtain Turkish citizenship.

There are six different options of gaining citizenship by investment in Turkey as following;

1- Acquiring a property worth a minimum of USD 250,000 or equivalent foreign currency or Turkish lira with a title deed restriction on its resale for at least three years, as attested by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization

2- Making a minimum fixed capital investment of USD 500,000 or equivalent foreign currency or Turkish lira, as attested by the Ministry of Industry and Technology

3- Creating jobs for at least 50 people, as attested by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services

4- Depositing at least USD 500,000 or equivalent foreign currency or Turkish lira in banks operating in Turkey with the condition not to withdraw the same for at least three years, as attested by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency

5- Buying at least USD 500,000 or equivalent foreign currency or Turkish lira worth of government bonds with the condition that they cannot be sold for at least three years, as attested by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance

6- Buying at least USD 500,000 or equivalent foreign currency or Turkish lira worth of real estate investment fund share or venture capital investment fund share with the condition that they cannot be sold for at least three years, as attested by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey

As Payas&Payas Law Office, we provide full legal services to our foreigner clients for gaining Turkish Citizenship by investment. We usually advise to our foreigner clients to choose option 1 or option 4 for proceeding a faster procedure. For option 1, the procedure to be followed is as below;

• Obtaining Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate worth at least USD 250,000 with a deed restriction against selling the real estate within three years. With such investment; the person purchasing the real estate, their spouse and their children under 18 can all become Turkish citizens.

• We help our foreigner clients first in completing a successful transaction of the title deed of a real estate they choose (We provide professional real estate services by collaborating with real estate agencies in our wide network for helping you to choose the right real estate), then obtaining of a special residence permit from Provincial Immigration Administration. Completing final procedural steps in Civil Registration and Citizenship Directorate are also very important. With the application which we are going to file in accordance with Article 20 of the Regulation on Implementation of Turkish Citizenship Law; our clients, their spouses and their children under the age of 18 will be able to obtain Turkish citizenship in a short time period.
