An Amendment to Foreigners' Land Purchase and Acquisition of Turkish Citizenship by Investment was made.
With this amendment, for foreigners to acquire citizenship by purchasing real estate, a condition of having a building on the land was introduced.
This can also be called as "A Conditional Barrier to Foreigners' Land Purchase".
Foreigners were prevented from purchasing land for Turkish citizenship.
The practice in which foreigners can acquire citizenship by purchasing real estate worth 400,000 US dollars in Turkey has been changed and a condition has been introduced for purchases made for citizenship acquisition, such as having a building on the land.
The regulation amending the regulation regarding the implementation of the Turkish citizenship law was published in the Official Gazette.
With the amendment made in the regulation, the application article of the regulation in question, which states that foreigners can acquire citizenship by acquiring real estate in Turkey worth 400,000 US dollars, has been changed to "real estate qualified as land with a condominium or floor easement established or a building on it, worth 400,000 US dollars".
In the previous version of the regulation, only the phrase "immovable property worth at least 400,000 US Dollars or equivalent foreign currency" was included.
